The 2025 Fallas Fair continues to deliver great excitement at the Valencia Bullring. In the second novillada with picadors, held this Friday, March 13, young ‘El Mene’ captivated the audience with a solid and charismatic performance that earned him a triumphant exit. Javier Zulueta came close to cutting a trophy and took a lap of honour after a compelling faena, while Simón Andreu battled against a challenging lot and acknowledged an ovation for his efforts in the sixth

Valencia, 13 March 2025.

The evening had one clear protagonist: ‘El Mene’. The young Sevillian maximised the potential of a lot that, while not extraordinary, allowed him to showcase his long, rhythmic style of toreo. His first opponent, a novillo with good focus but limited strength, was handled with intelligence, his charge smoothly accompanied by well-tempered series on both sides. A precise sword thrust secured him his first trophy.

The fourth of the afternoon, more spirited and with greater depth, allowed ‘El Mene’ to deliver his best performance. There were profoundly deep and linked naturales that thrilled the crowd. He concluded the faena with a well-placed estocada, sparking a petition for two ears, though the president only awarded one. Nonetheless, his outstanding performance secured his triumphant exit on the shoulders of the crowd.

Javier Zulueta displayed moments of brilliance. His first novillo, which weakened as the fight progressed, was met with well-placed muletazos, especially on the natural side. However, his second opponent, lacking class and spirit, prevented him from securing a full triumph. Nevertheless, the crowd acknowledged his ambition with a lap of honour after a strong petition.

Simón Andreu was less fortunate with his lot. The third of the afternoon, a hesitant and uncooperative animal, denied him any real chance of success. He fought bravely, showing flashes of quality close to the boards, but without the ability to construct a meaningful faena. With the sixth, which he greeted with a bold portagayola despite the rain-soaked arena, he sought to assert dominance, but the bull refused to lower its head, finishing each pass with its head high. His determination was recognised with an ovation from the crowd.
