Valencia Review – Rejoneo 15 March 2026

Valencia’s bullring hosted a high-quality morning of rejoneo during the fifth event of the 2026 Fallas Fair, where Diego Ventura emerged as the clear winner after taking one ear from each of his bulls and leaving through the Main Gate.

The Portuguese-Spanish horseman once again demonstrated his mastery of mounted bullfighting, delivering two well-rounded performances against bulls from María Guiomar Cortés de Moura. Although lacking some strength, the animals allowed for expression. Ventura built his success on precision, strong connection with the crowd and effective use of the killing lance, which proved decisive in securing both trophies.

Andy Cartagena also delivered a performance of notable quality, full of flair and commitment. Lea Vicens, for her part, showed willingness and a refined approach with a challenging lot that did not make things easy. In her first, she produced some promising moments that earned her an ovation. In her second, difficulties with the bull and repeated issues with the kill resulted in silence after two warnings.

The Cortés de Moura bulls were well presented and generally noble, though somewhat lacking in strength, which influenced the overall outcome of the event.

With around two-thirds of the seats filled, the morning ended with Ventura’s clear triumph and the sense that Cartagena might have joined him in a shoulder exit had he been more accurate with the final lance.
