The Frenchman delivers the standout performance with a top Jandilla bullbut a missed kill costs him a deserved ear at the Fallas Fair.

The sixth event of the Fallas Fair at Valencia’s bullring ended with a sense of frustration, as a clear trophy slipped away. Sebastián Castella produced the most compelling performance of the afternoon, yet once again the sword proved decisive in the final outcome. The French bullfighter had little opportunity with his first bull from Puerto de San Lorenzo, which offered limited scope. The turning point came with the fourth, a Jandilla bull that stood out for its bravery, rhythm and intensity. Castella began confidently in the centre of the ring with passes changed behind the back, immediately capturing the crowd’s attention. From there, he built a structured and engaging performance, particularly on the right hand, linking deep and fluent series. The bull responded with quality and strong transmission, raising the overall level of the contest. Although the left-handed work lacked some precision, the emotion of the bull and a powerful closing sequence with bernadinas kept the audience fully involved. However, a prior failed sword attempt denied him a clear ear, despite strong calls from the stands. José María Manzanares showed his best form with the first of his bulls, also from Puerto de San Lorenzo. He made the most of the animal’s right side, producing composed and well-shaped series. The performance had the makings of a trophy, but an ineffective sword spoiled the result. With his second, which offered little, he had no real chance to shine. Pablo Aguado once again displayed his refined and elegant style. The Seville-born matador delivered the most artistic moments of the afternoon with the third bull, guiding it smoothly and with excellent timing, especially in mid-height, flowing muleta work. His performance, full of style and sensitivity, connected well with the crowd, but once more the sword prevented any reward. The bull run featured varied performances from the different breeders, with Jandilla clearly standing out over the more limited Puerto de San Lorenzo. The event drew an attendance of 7,810 spectators.
