The young bullfighter delivered a determined performance in Valencia, cutting two ears in the final novillada of the Fallas season.

The final novillada of the 2026 Fallas season in Valencia had a clear standout: Julio Norte. The young bullfighter emerged as the main figure of the afternoon, leaving through the Puerta Grande after a performance defined by determination and a strong technical approach in front of a varied Fuente Ymbro line-up.

From the outset, Norte showed intent and clarity. His first bull, with quality and repetition, allowed him to build a composed and well-structured muleta performance, particularly on the right hand. He extended the charges smoothly, keeping the bull close to the cloth and finishing with control and style. A decisive sword thrust secured the first ear.

The high point came with the sixth replacement bull, also from Fuente Ymbro. Norte made his intentions clear from the cape work, combining long passes and chicuelinas that immediately engaged the crowd. With the muleta, he took a bold approach—kneeling in the centre of the ring to begin the faena, where he suffered a heavy knockdown that did not diminish his resolve.

Rather than retreat, he increased the intensity. Still on his knees, he delivered a series of right-hand passes with notable rhythm and depth. As the faena progressed, he alternated sides with confidence, demonstrating a classical style and clear command over the bull. In the closing stages, he shortened the distance and connected strongly with the crowd in a performance that steadily built emotion.

Although he required more than one attempt with the sword, the strong public reaction ensured he was awarded the second ear, confirming his exit on shoulders.

His fellow novilleros had fewer opportunities. Juan Alberto Torrijos showed promise with the opening bull, arguably the best of the afternoon, but was unable to complete his efforts. Julio Méndez, meanwhile, drew the least favourable lot and was given little chance to shine.

The Fuente Ymbro cattle offered a mixed display, with some high-quality animals alongside others that lacked consistency, shaping the overall outcome of the event.

Novillos from Fuente Ymbro (6th replacement), well presented but varied in performance. The first and third stood out for their quality. The fourth was manageable; the sixth showed mobility and intensity. The second lacked sparkle, and the fifth was tame.
